Title: Hiroshi Ishiguro: The Man Who Made a Copy of Himself
Post by: Gary Mayer on 2010-04-08T16:52:28-05:00 (Thursday)
This is an IEEE article about a roboticist who is building androids in order to better understand humans. He's built androids of himself, his daughter, and a newscaster:

http://spectrum.ieee.org/robotics/humanoids/hiroshi-ishiguro-the-man-who-made-a-copy-of-himself (http://spectrum.ieee.org/robotics/humanoids/hiroshi-ishiguro-the-man-who-made-a-copy-of-himself)

After this article, if you look about the page, you might also find a link to a second article (03 Apr 2010) on his latest creation -- an android that smiles and laughs and has more natural facial expressions. Or, just access it here:

I saw some similar tech at Chuck E. Cheese when I was a kid.  :-)

I don't know Mike... are you sure it wasn't a Chuck E Cheese employee wearing a costume? :)

Speaking of lifelike, I love Reid from Criminal Minds. Don't know if anyone else is watching it, but this is classic:
