Ok, the Department is working on developing new elective courses. Most of these will be at the graduate 500 level, but some at the 400 level. So what course would you like be most likely to take if it was offered while you were still at good 'ol SIUE?
If I was going to be around for another semester, I would take the advanced Operating Systems course with Dr. Stephens. I really enjoyed his 414 course and am pretty disappointed that I am unable to take the follow up course.
I'd really like to see some kind of game programming course. I dunno how much 482 really gets into this, but a course like that would apply many of the topics from previous courses.
I REALLY want to vote for more than 1 *pout* ... :-) .
One of the projects I could have worked on at Wash U over the summer was in 'evolutionary programming' with Bill Smart. It sounded really cool to be able to put some code in a petri dish and watch it grow and 'evolve'.
TIP: You can vote more than once if you create a virtual user. The more virtual users, the more votes. Or, you can edit the mySQL database. Will I release info on how to do any of that?!? Hmmm, probally not.

Oh my God! If you offer "Massively Parallel Computing", I'll make DAMN sure I take it! That kind of stuff has always interested me.
Get it get it get it!!!
If we could get some heavy voter turn out on this I would be willing to bring it up at the CS faculty meeting.

Probably not a good idea to encourage hacking of our website :-P
Maybe if people just make sure to mention in a post the other classes for which they would have liked to vote ...
For me:
Massively Parallel Computation, Ethics: Computer Law, Advanced Software Engineering, Advanced HCI, Formal Language Theory, Natural Language Processing and Generation ...
and how about a class in Security?
Word, I'm with Liz on a lot of her course choices, especially that first one ;-) Hopefully I'd have the pre-reqs. for that.
Oh hey! I didn't see the biologically inspired computing; that would be one to top my list as well.
I don't know which one, Massively Par. Comp. or Bio. Inspired Comp. I like more. Hmm, choices choices.
I wouldn't want those both in the same semester.
