Title: Next Unix tutorial
Post by: Victor Cardona on 2002-11-06T18:56:04-06:00 (Wednesday)
Hi Everyone,

I know that it is late in the semester, but I was wondering if we wanted to hold the second UNIX tutorial? What are your thoughts on the matter?

Yes, thank you for bringing this up.  I would like to get started on planning the next agenda and reviewing the success of our last tutorial.  I think we need to go slower and cover less material.  So, I guess we could use this forum thread to start generating ideas.

My ideas for topics

X (cygwin,vnc)
screen
???

X, vnc, and makefiles would be good.  Also, I don't remember if we covered these last time, but grep and find would be useful to fellow students as well.

Yeah, I've been trying to get one started for a while, but everyone has been busy.  Such is school.

Anyway, I wanna get the show on the road with one :-)  I know a few students who have inquired about such an event.

You think that maybe we could meet some time next week or online in #siue?

Well, ttyl!

Meeting on #siue would probably be easiest for everyone.
