Title: CS Jobs at the Career Fair
Post by: Jerry on 2003-09-17T08:38:43-05:00 (Wednesday)
Looks like a number of companies are looking for CS at the career fair.

Check it out: http://www.careers.siue.edu/fairs/of03.html (http://www.careers.siue.edu/fairs/of03.html)

Just a reminder that the October Career Fair '03 will be Wednesday, October 1 in the VC from 9:00 to 3:00.  We have 100 employers scheduled to attend at this time.  Employers will be talking with students from all majors at the fair about employment opportunities both Co-op and Full-time.

I really suggest attending this event.  I found my intership at the SIUE career fair and it eventually led to a fulltime job.  Although some of the companies send people who are not responsible for hiring, the smaller companies tend to send management.  Visit every company's table, even if they are not hiring "Computer Scientists".  I say this because every company doing business today needs IT folks.  Good luck to everyone!

What should we wear? Do I have to strangle myself with a tie?

Unless you set-up an on campus interview you don't need to wear a business suit. But you should dress business casual. For guys that means a nice pair of dress slacks, button down shirt. For women that means a nice pair of dress slacks or skirt, and dress blouse.

Also, update and print up some of your resumes and take them with you.

BTW some of the companies may be doing on campus interviews. You can sign-up for these through the Career Development Center.
