Title: Do Google and SIUE have something in common?
Post by: EvilAndrew on 2005-12-06T23:59:07-06:00 (Tuesday)
As many of you may have noticed SIUE has switched to a new anti-virus product known as Sophos (http://www.siue.edu/anti-virus/).  I am not a big fan of this switch.  However, my dislike of Sophos has little to do with the product and a great deal more to do with the specific testing and communication policies that came with it.  You may also have noticed the Google’s g-mail (http://mail.google.com) just added a virus-scanning component (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=25760).  Although Google has not announced what software they are using (or even if they used a third-party product), this site (http://thebillygoatcurse.com/37) makes a convincing case (http://www.thebillygoatcurse.com/gmailresults.html) that Google is currently using Sohpos just like us.
