Title: SIUE TV Commercials
Post by: Tyler on 2005-08-30T12:22:56-05:00 (Tuesday)
I've seen this SIUE TV commercial a few times on TV.  They're on this big kick on S I U E..E...E..E

I find this funny for two reasons.

One, I believe the enrollment is already capped for several years to come, so they're trying to get new kids for what?

And, more applicable to this forum, the website they advertise says siue.edu.  I have not tried from too many locations, but from work and my apartment (both charter cable modems in the Belleville, IL area) the simple http://siue.edu will not work.  It requires the full http://www.siue.edu

Anyone else notice this?

siue.edu (http://siue.edu)

a simple entry to the siue.edu zone file would fix this.

it already resolves to our mail server.  i believe this is so that we will still get mail from servers that do not pay attention to mx records.

i can think of a few solutions to the problem.

Yeah, I guess they could forward all port 80 requests to the mail server to the appropriate box.

Also, what mail servers don't pay attention to MX records?  Home grown spam bots?  IMHO, mail from lame hosts not using MX records should never arrive at its destination...
