Title: New CAOS Officers!
Post by: Ross Mead on 2006-01-21T00:46:04-06:00 (Saturday)
At the close of Friday's meeting (which was a blast by the way!), new officers were elected, so I'd like to be the first to welcome and congratulate them on their new positions!  The 2006-2007 officers are listed below, with the newest officers italicized:

Justin Ratcliffe (jratcliffe (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=384)), President
Brad Nunnally (bluedragon0583 (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=329)), Vice-President
Ross Mead (Q-Bit (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=276)), Treasurer
Shaun Martin (martins (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=422)), Secretary
Justin Camerer (iamjwc), WebAdmin
Dr. Steven Blythe, Faculty Advisor

As you can see, I've stepped down as the "El Presidente de CAOS" (as Tyler a.k.a. tfizzle (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=331) once put it) to take over the role of treasurer.  Over the past year, I've come to find that I've spread myself too thin over many different areas.  Thus, in stepping down I feel that I have given myself a bit of room to breathe while still trying to be active in this organization that I love.  Justin has gratefully assumed the role as the new President of CAOS, and I'm sure he will do a great job as he did when he was secretary.

Both Shaun and Justin (Camerer) are newer to the forums, however, they've quickly stepped up to take responsibilities as the new secretary and website administrator, respectively.  I just recently met Shaun this semester (we have a class together), and I'm glad to have him signed on as an officer.  He is intelligent, responsible, and enthusiastic about technology and this organization, and I'm sure will make a great secretary.  As I previously mentioned, Justin is new to the forums as well, and we are proud to have him.  Last semester, I met him up at Sacred Grounds coffee shop on Main Street, and found out he was really into website development, among other things.  In fact, he and a friend just started their own website design and development company; check them out at Sprung! (http://www.sprungishere.com/) (I'm hoping to be working with them on developing my band's website).  With all this in mind, I asked him to consider being the new website administrator,... and now here he is!

(On a side note, Justin, under his tag "iamjwc", submitted a post entitled something like "I AM IN CHARGE NOW" merely hours ago.  It was rather amusing, with a ridiculous amount of animated smilies!  It was hilarious seeing the smilies update, as there were so many that you could literally watch the propagation delay!  Did an officer remove the post?  Maybe Justin himself removed it?  Ehh, who knows... :-P )

Anyways, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone that helped me out through my term as President; I really enjoyed the experience!  I look forward to my new position, and trust that Justin (Ratcliffe) will be a fine successor to my presidency.  I wish all the officers the best, and I look forward to working with you! :-D

That was me that deleted that.  My bad.  I thought it was someone messing around and causing trouble.  I had no idea it was the new el presidente.

The person who made that post is the new web admin, not the president  :-)

It was Justin Camerer, the new website administrator (which is why I found it kind of ironic).  No harm done, just be sure to check with an officer before deleting something like that next time.

I'm pretty stoked to assume this position. I haven't done anything like this since I was a freshman in highschool.

w00t.

LOL!  I'm just happy you used the word "stoked"!  I generally only reserve that for certain places in the U.S. (i.e., California or Colorado).  **shrugz** :-P

So have there been any suggestions as far as events for the semester?

Just a suggestion--I wouldn't recommend putting you email in plain html in your signature.  Spambots and other questionable automated programs tend to visit forums (especially those with decent pageranks).

You might want to try something like me[at]gmail[dot].com or something along those lines.

Just an idea.  I get so much spam and I'm on a personal crusade to help out others.
