This week, the CS Dept. (http://www.cs.siue.edu) got 300 squishy robots in the mail. These robots are to be used as gifts for the grade school aged participants in the NSF funded study of girl’s attitudes toward science, technology and engineering (http://www.cs.siue.edu/news/story.aspx?StoryID=200509140). The next phase of the study is to survey the participants one year after their experience and so Dr. Jerry Weinberg (http://www.cs.siue.edu/faculty/?Who=weinberj) decided to remind them with a gift.
Before we started mailing the robots, I took some photos.

The table of robots reminded me of the domino scene in V for Vendetta (brilliant movie)

You are not the only one. Dr. Weinberg had me lock them in the server closet because he was afraid that they would start disappearing and he didn’t order many extras.
