Title: DnD, anyone?
Post by: msiadak on 2006-08-28T14:09:07-05:00 (Monday)
I'm relatively new to the area, (I moved here from Michigan in May 2005), and I've been attending SIUE since.  I am majoring in programming, and was wondering if there is anyone on campus/near the campus that plays DnD? Preferrably 3/3.5, and I'd like to bring my fiance along.

I've heard that there is a group that plays on campus, but I'm not sure how to contact them.  I considered seeking them out myself when I first got here, but then realized that school ran too much of my life! :-P

Yes, you need to find the army of foam swords.  You will know who they are when you see them.  Bring your dice and a fuzzy weapon and challenge them to a duel of number tossing and luck.  Should you win, you will be entered into their foam sword armada and offered to play DnD.  MAY DANGEROUS CONQUESTS LAY AHEAD OF YOU!!!

I used to play WoW, but I have very little time for all the Raid content. So I quit once I saw that that was the way the game is going.  :(

You should consider WoW again, they just added a crap load of content that is not dependent on Raiding. I personally Raid all the time, but I know plenty of people that stay away from Raiding as if it was a plaque. If you get the need for a fix again let me know I can give you plenty of options to keep your self entertained.

1)  :welcome: msiadak (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=551)

2) WoW, MUD on TRS80, Dark Age of Camelot =  :offtopic:

I'm not sure if the guys with the foam swords are the same group that plays DnD; they might be.  As grimw (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=2) mentioned, even if you don't actively seek them out, you will know them when you see them, as they often coordinate in the field between the Engineering Building and the Morris University Center.  If anything, maybe CAOS could do a DnD event sometime.  I know some students (and some professors...  ;-) ) that might be interested in playing.  Let us know if you get in touch with someone, and if so, what their organization (?) is called for future reference.

I personally know some people from the anime club that play.  They have tried to get games started up before, not sure if they have had any luck.  If you want to seek them out, head over to the across forums: www.acrossanime.org and ask around in the Pen and Paper RPG section.  You might be able find a group to game with there.
