Title: Recycling Computers
Post by: The_ME on 2007-01-05T17:02:20-06:00 (Friday)
Does the school recycle old computers? If so, how could I sneak a few into the mix?

I worked for OIT up until this summer.  Unless something has changed (doubtful) they don't.  All old computers get sent to surplus which were later sent to Springfield to be sold at auction by pallet.

Here is a computer recycling place in St. Louis - they refurbish and supply computer systems to low income families.

I found a few recyclers, but I think I found my match.

Thanks.

Honestly, if you are looking to get some pieces for some 'used' computers.  The best place to look is large trash pickup day.  Last time I went 'rummaging' with a few friends we found about a dozen computers, a few monitors (one of which I still use, 19" Flat CRT), printers (for their cartridges which gets you free reams of paper), keyboards, and mice.  How's the saying go, "One man's garbage is another man's gold mine."
