Title: FUN CAOS ACTIVITY IDEA
Post by: raptor on 2008-10-01T14:23:21-05:00 (Wednesday)
Okay,

I've been thinking its time we do something a little less business and a little more fun.  I bounced two ideas off of a few other members and want to know what you guys think / how many would show up.

1) Old School Gaming (on projector of course): N64 w/ Starfox and Goldeneye, maybe MarioCart.  Or any other system/game with multiplayer

2) Movie Night:  Maybe classic geek like Tron, War Games, Sneakers, Hackers.  Or maybe something that is so classic.     *may be technicalities with watching movies.

I'm thinking this would most happen on a Thursday night.  We might be able to swing pizza and soda too.

Awesommmme.  I prefer Perfect Dark to Goldeneye, but it's still a classic.  And MarioKart 64...good times!  I'd definitely come to this.  (Maybe even a quick ORIGINAL Super Smash Brothers match?)

I agree with the old school LAN party, or a LAN party in general. I also think that our own programming competition could be pretty fun. We could set it up the same as the ACM competition. I think it would be great for learning and could be a great time.

Jarod,

Thanks for reminding me about that. For those not familiar with the ACM contest, teams of three take on small programming challenges and try to accomplish as many as possible in a limited time period.  Anyone interested in doing something like this here some evening?

Do people still have N64 controllers that actually work correctly?  I tried having a retro gaming night a while back.  I broke out Goldeneye and the analog sticks on all 4 of my controllers barely worked.

I have Goldeneye/Mario Kart/Super Smash Brothers and four controllers if need be.  The analog sticks appear worn, sure, but they still work perfectly fine.  I play Perfect Dark all the time still.

Someone else would need to bring the actual system and cords though.  Mine's integrated way too much into the big wooden...TV center...thingy.  (In other words, no need for a Wii emulator if someone has a spare system.)
