Title: downtime
Post by: Peter Motyka on 2002-11-09T00:03:30-06:00 (Saturday)
Today the power to the SIUE-SOE server room failed causing all servers to go down.  solar.cs.siue.edu (http://solar.cs.siue.edu) (aka caos.siue.edu) is kept in this room and was taken out of service by this abrupt cut of power.  The filesystem was recovered and the box is now back online (well, duh... you can read this message).  We think all is well and everything should be up and operational.  Feel free to contact me (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=101) or Sir William Michael Grim (http://caos.siue.edu/userinfo.php?uid=2) for any assistance if needed.  If immediate assistance is needed, please send an email to /dev/null :)

Peter

That might have been funny at midnight, but... :-D  Anyways, I wonder how many ppl will get that joke about sending to /dev/null/. I actually backed up the contents of /dev/null/ to one HDs using DD, and it took up the entire HD, but it still wasn't finished transfering data. hehe.
