So, I'm friends with one of the developers of Exit Strategy NYC and had dinner with the company on Tuesday; they're all extremely cool people.  You may have heard of their app, because it's been getting lots of big press since its release on Tuesday.  If you're coming to NYC and want to work the subways like a pro, you have got to check out this app!  Typically, NYC subways are very crowded, and you can get off a subway car almost an avenue away from where you want to be, and that can put you back about 3-5 minutes, depending on traffic.  With this app, it'll tell you exactly where to be so that when you get off the subway car, you're right next to the exit, which is fantastic!

I just thought I'd plug it here, all the way away from NYC.  But if you do come to NYC, think about getting it if you want to save a lot of time.

While I think Exit Strategy NYC is a great app, someone has invented another NYC app that just has a way higher "WOW" factor involved in it: New York Nearest Subway Augmented Reality App for iPhone.

At the same meeting where the devs of Exit Strategy NYC launched their app (New York Tech Meetup), Zagat released an app somewhat similar to the video's app but for restaurants and not on the iPhone.  It was either the Pre or Android; I can't remember.  I don't have a link to their app right now.
