The content here is much more dynamic

And that's exactly why we're doing it this way. Important CAOS event posts get buried quickly by non-caos related threads that typically have more to do with video games, viral media, and other jargon. It's hard to spread the word about events that are going on when it's easy for people to pass up billboards, skip over topics, or they just don't hear from word of mouth. I think this way serves as a better gateway. And if you really really don't like it, it's 1 click away to the forums, or you can just bookmark the /forums ;)

If you do decide to keep the existing setup, I think it'd be a good idea to make the "Recent Posts" section more like how we have now, with just a bit more info (and make sure it correctly updates :)).  Maybe also have a way of listing the forums like we can now for making a new post, and then it could come directly to this forum software until you've written your own or made the integration seamless.

GREAT stuff. We need more ideas like this! We'll work on implementing features soon. :D

I second this.  This would allow people who might log into the lab computers several times a day to notice new forum threads from the home page rather than having to navigate to the forums in order to check threads.

Dislike clicking (or typing extra) just to get to the main reason for the CAOS site: forums.  *hulk smash*
