I am heading up to campus tonight to drop of parts to those who have requested them.  There is still quite a bit of stuff left!  Feel free to make some last minute requests!

I currently have 128MB of PC-133.

Didn't get a chance to check the BIOS.

This is not a freebie, but I thought I would get everyone's attention with the "Free" subject line ;)

I am looking to sell my 17 inch Viewsonic E771 CRT monitor.  You can see the specs of it at this website http://www.viewsonic.com/support/crt_e771.htm

My asking price is $75.  Not in your budget right now?  Make me an offer!

Anyone who would want some old monitors for a linux box or something that doesn't require high resolution, I've got a few I'd like to give away.

I beleive that the best I've got would be a 14" 1024 X 768 pixel SVGA monitor.  I have several that are 800 X 600.

Dale:

I'd appreciate one of those free monitors.  It would be good for my headless BSD box for when the network goes down and I have trouble talking to it (which isn't uncommon :-P )  Resoultion isn't very important (since it's only going to display a console)... so I'll take the smallest and lightest one you've got :).

Sure.  I'd be glad to be rid of one.  They take up a lot of space.  My e-mail is Imperial1964 at hotmail dot com so you can contact me.  We could meet at SIU sometime.

Anyone want some other computer parts I have?

I was looking around my basement and noticed my spare parts collection is looking more like a museum of computer history.  I guess when you find stuff marked "zenith data systems" some of it must go.:nerd:

Stuff I have that might be useful:
Floppy disk drives (3.5" and yes, a couple of 5 1/4")
Keyboards (the older kind, not the PS2 ones)
Mice (all kinds)
SVGA Monitors (I still have 5)

If anyone wants any of this, I'm happy to get rid of it.  If I don't hear anything about those keyboards, they're going next trash day.  I will probably start trashing the monitors soon, also. 8-)

In case you don't check your email all that often, I've found home for three monitors, and I could use a serial mouse.

Depositing CRT monitors in your local landfill is very bad for the environment, you know :)

Thanks!

If you have some CRTs to get rid of, consider recycling them.  There is a place in Fairmont City, IL that does such scrap processing.

I took some stuff there once and it was pretty straight forward.  Call first.

Thanks.  That's a bit of a drive for me just for monitors.:-(  Maybe next time I recycle stuff I'll take it all down there.

Fortunately, I have had quite some response from my last post and have 3 or 4 of monitors spoken for thanks to Beanie.:-)  He's been asking around.  Hopefully, I'll be able to give them all to people who can use them.:-D

Have you already gotten rid of all of your extra parts?

Wow, I'm impressed that this topic is still on the boards. I figured it would have been deleted due to age or lost in the transfer of board type.

To the board admin, good work keeping the archives alive. :)
