Spring semester 2002, Victor Cardona founded CAOS's own SETI@home team.  Team members run a small program that uses unused cpu cycles to process data collected from radio telescopes and check for unusual patterns that could possibly prove that we are not alone.

Check out the team or join us at:

Well, the Aliens will not answer, because ET spent a lot of money on a long distance, intestellar, collect call home. Then his parents had to fly all the way here spending even more money on fuel. That is why all communication with Earth has been outlawed.

I would really like to see our Seti team reach the 5000 unit mark. We only need about 800 more and we are there  :-)

In about a week my computer will be running 24/7, get me up from my measly 29 units  :-D

Michael Kennedy

Screw 5000, how about 6000?

I just rejoined and added around 1525 units.

I've just got one thing to say- "I'M COMING FOR YOU LAMONICA!  YOU AND ME, PC-A-PC.  IT'S GONNA BE THE MELEE FOR ET.  BRING IT ON!"

:-D

(Sorry, just got done watching Lord of the Rings again and it always gets me in the fightin' mood.  Also, I know melee really doesn't rhyme with ET, but it sure looks like it does.)

OK lets go for 7000 by the end of the semester!

Knock your self out.  I stopped using SETI a year ago.  I’m not even sure I remember what my password is. :-P

Michael Kennedy

Aaw, those aren't exactly fightin' words.  Fire your SETI back up and make it tough for me.   :-D

We're building some more dual MP servers at work and part of "testing" is to run SETI for a while and see where the temperatures on it get in the server room.  I can score 1 unit ever 2 hours or so (using both CPUs), so I'll be shooting up there again.

Heh, I'm talking like I actually do something to get SETI to crunch packets.   :-D

I have two of my own computers and another SMP computer involved.

:-D :-D :-D My SETI packets are suddenly increasing quickly. :-D :-D :-D

Bring it on!

Oops, did I say that?  Ha ha, I guess I don't have much room to speak with only my 300+ packets.

So THAT'S what SETI is. lol.

I'm a folding@Home kind of guy.. seems more worth while to me XD

Though, I'm at around 5k units for my team :) And I wanna say we've got near 900k total? not sure.

Then again, we got guys that have basements filled with computers folding full time.. it's crazy

WOW old post brought back to life.  I haven't used SETI in about a year but when I was I had  5 computers running 24/7 and 4 more running on and off.
