I just got a 64-bit system, and all it came with was Windows x86 Media Center. I want to upgrade to Windows x64 Pro, but on the MSDNAA site, it only offers one version of Windows to download. It doesn't specify which version it is (I assume x86), but I wasn't sure if the version was an option when it came to install time. I don't really want to download it, burn it, and try to install it just to find out it won't be what I want, especially if you guys could just tell me. If it isn't the 64-bit version then, does anyone know if I can still get a copy of it through the MSDNAA site or for free anywhere?

Also, its a dual core system :-D, and I was wondering if you have to download or select anything special when you install to ensure that the OS will utilize this as well.

Thanks,
John

I'm pretty sure you can still download it for free from microsoft's site. I haven't used it in quite some time, so I'm not sure. Hope you already solved this problem!

The x64 version of Windows is not available for free anywhere. It isn't even available for academic pricing. As far as Microsoft is concerned, it is not needed for application development in the Academic field. If students wish to personally broaden their herizons, they must purchase it at shelf price.

I disagree, because I believe that this world is moving into a 64-bit environment and find it very applicable, at least for higher level CS majors, to get that experience. It would put them closer to the edge of the technological world and therefore, make them stronger assets to corportions. Unfortunately, Phoenix != Bill Gates, so....
