Hey everyone i am looking for a good cheap basic laptop that i can use to run some basics apps.  it dosen't need to be a powerhouse or have a huge screen (i am not the kind of person that overcompensates with screen size) .  pretty much it will be used for school.  so if anyone has a lead anywhere that would be greatly appreciated.

You're a fool if you think screen size isn't important.

Laptops are a little different of course, but desktops, man the monitor is EVERYTHING.

In laptops, screen size is everything too, but in the opposite direction. Laptops are meant to be portable, and no 17 monster is. The 12-14 inch range is probably ideal. I have info on some relatively cheap hp computers with student prices starting around 700. PM me if you want details.

I do agree with monitor size for desktop (i have a 21 inch guy which i frakin love) but for a laptop it negates the specific functionality of a laptop and then only makes it ascetically pleasing.

The Macs are worth any extra expense they might incur, which isn't much, if any, for similar specs in a non-Mac notebook.

I've been dying for an excuse to get a mac for some time now. Unfortunately I haven't found on!
