I know this is a repost from digg, but Jon Stewart always cracks me up and it was rather bittersweet hearing what the people in charge of the internet think about it.

I'm glad that the main stream audiences are getting to hear parts of Senator Stevens rant against net neutrality.  I listened to a longer rendition on "This Week in Tech", a few weeks ago, and I was appalled.  I not sure I would want this guy regulating typewriter sales; much less the Internet that he seems to think consists of e-mail and nothing else.  (Quote: â€Ã...“[an] Internet was sent by my staff at 10 o’clock in the morningâ€Ã,.)

Clearly Senator Stevens’ staff gave him talking points but he must have lost them (in the Internet maybe ;-)) and tried to remember what they contained, because he went off on a rant about NetFlix (which is not even a big bandwidth user) and poor internet connection speeds at his office (which are the fault of the ISP’s companies who share his view on Net Neutrality).

Anyway, you should listen to TWiT, if you have an MP3 Player.  It is not always as technical as I would like, but it is a good source for industry news and opinions.

I too was amused by the impressive vocubulary of "sending an internet" to someone.  He's right on the money.  All the internet consists of is email.  I don't want my internet slown down by the millions of spam internet being sent to my internet inbox.  Nor do I want my internet outbox having to send slower because of the high traffic of other internets about mortgage offers and discount viagra.
