First, let me know if you need any CAOS advisor type help in organizing.

Second, the flyer looks good. When you say panel discussion with faculty do you mean the faculty will be on the panel?  If so which faculty members have agreed to do it?

Third, please be sure to pass the word to OIT, and a message to Dr. Stephen. If you need his email address let me know.

Finally, I would be willing to give extra credit to 321'ers and my 490 class, but I would need you to come up with a couple people who will be there to take names of student's who show-up.

I'm gonna be there from 10AM to untill they leave, so can you give me extra credit. I know I already took your 321 class, but any extra credit now to help my grade would be just groovy.  ;-)

I didnt mention anything about the early activities because we will be pretty busy then.  We are going to visit classrooms and stuff and I would rather not have lots of people tagging along.  I understand a few people will be there, but I would rather not open that up to Joe Public.

I plan on this being a townhall style panel discussion.  We will field questions to the panelists and then open the floor to comments from the audience.  So far I have commitments from Dr. Bhatia and Dr. Noble.  I have emailed Dr. Stephen to see if he will attend and I am waiting for his reply.  If anyone can suggest any other faculty who are Operating Systems gurus, please do.

Dr Weinberg, if you could persuade Dr. Stephen into coming that would be great! :D

I like it. Nice graphics too.

I can help post flyers throughout campus. We should also post them away from the EB.

I can take names of CS 321 students that come through the doors.  I plan to attend the entire conference, from 1 - 4 PM.

So, if you need a name-taker, I could be your man, considering I'm in CS 321 it might make it easier for me to spot incoming people.

Hmm... I wonder if this thread is heading for a record of most views and replies...

But now I'm getting off-topic.

Back on the old forum, there was a topic that went past 40 posts.

Hello everyone!  I just wanted to make formal request to get everyone talking about this event.  I have posted flyers, emailed faculty... What we need now is to get everyone talking about it.  Tell the person next to you in class, mention it to everyone you come in contact with over the next few days....  "Hey, did you hear the RedHats are coming!"  We need to get the word out and fill the 100+ seats in the auditorium!  Good ol' sensationalism never hurt anyone ;)

Thanks,
Peter

If you have not checked this out yet, give it a read. The traveling RedHat'rs are keeping a journal of the tour from start to finish.  They have not really left yet, but have some pretty amusing posts already.  Actually, the crew hits the road tomorrow, Oct 31st!  Only a few more days until the goons arrive!

I've just started visiting the caos page on a regular basis and I spotted the info on the redhat tour. I'll definitely be there. I'm also told some of my linux/geek friends in the area to come also. me included it could be 6 or more people :)

Here it is, in all of its glory!

We need to get overhead announcements in the faculty mailboxes by Monday am. We should put them in both the CS and ECE boxes.

Do you think it would be ok to send a jpeg version of the flyer to display with the computer projector?  I hate to have profs lug out the dinosaur overhead machine just to display our flyer.  What do you think?  Would they be more/less inclined to ablige with this format?
